When my wife Gayatri was brought to Manipal Hospital, she was in a frighteningly serious condition — high fever, severe shivering, very low blood pressure, dizziness and ultimately diagnosed with urosepsis with septic shock and acute kidney injury. As her husband, watching her in that condition was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. At that moment, we were scared and didn't really know what was going to happen. Your timely medical attention, clinical judgement and the way the situation was handled gave us something we desperately needed at that time — confidence that she was in capable hands. She required ICU care and treatment to stabilise her blood pressure, and the underlying cause of the infection was identified and treated. Seeing her gradually stabilise, her kidney function improve and eventually seeing her discharged in a stable condition is something our family will always be grateful for. Doctor, thank you not only for treating the patient, but also for giving confidence to the family standing beside her during those extremely difficult hours.
